General Manager

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced General Manager – Food Manufacturing to lead end-to-end plant operations and drive operational, financial, quality, safety, and people performance.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished manufacturing leader with strong experience in food manufacturing or food processing, particularly within high-volume production environments.

What You'll Be Doing

Plant Operations & Financial Performance

• Take ownership of overall site P&L, operational budgets, CapEx investments, and cost performance.
• Drive improvements in COGS, productivity, OEE, production output, waste reduction, labour efficiency, and raw material utilisation.
• Lead manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives across Production, Facility Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Warehouse.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reliability, capacity, and profitability.
• Ensure plant resources and investments are effectively managed to support business objectives.

Quality, Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure plant readiness and compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements, including HALAL, HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, ISO, DOSH, and BOMBA.
• Champion product quality, food safety, and customer specification compliance.
• Drive strong EHS and workplace safety practices throughout the facility.
• Oversee corrective and preventive actions arising from internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits.
• Maintain high standards of operational discipline and audit readiness.

Leadership & People Development

• Provide strategic leadership to cross-functional department heads across Production, QA/QC, Facility Management, Supply Chain, and Digital & Technology.
• Build a high-performance and accountable plant culture.
• Develop leadership capability and succession pipelines across the organisation.
• Support talent retention, workforce development, and capability building across all shifts.
• Lead effectively across diverse and multicultural teams.

What We're Looking For

• 10–15+ years of operational experience within food manufacturing, food processing, commercial bakery, or other high-volume food production environments.
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior plant leadership position, such as Plant General Manager, Plant Director, Operations Director, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience managing plant P&L, budgets, COGS optimisation, cost-saving initiatives, and operational margin improvement.
• Strong knowledge of FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, ISO, food safety management systems, and regulatory compliance.
• Working knowledge of Malaysian requirements such as JAKIM HALAL, DOSH, and BOMBA.
• Strong understanding of automated food processing lines, plant engineering, preventive maintenance, and supply chain operations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional and multicultural teams in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and business acumen.
