GIS Specialist / Senior Programmer

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced GIS Specialist / Senior Programmer to support GIS application development, geospatial data operations, system integration, and technical support within an Oil & Gas environment. The role involves developing and maintaining web-based GIS applications, supporting GIS databases and data operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring reliable integration between GIS platforms and enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities ● Provide GIS technical consultancy, system implementation, troubleshooting, and technical support. ● Develop, maintain, and enhance web-based GIS applications and custom GIS solutions. ● Develop and maintain GIS applications using Python, Java, C++, and/or JavaScript. ● Manage and support GIS data operations, including data conversion, import, export, mapping, and updating. ● Design and maintain GIS data structures and support spatial/enterprise database integration. ● Integrate GIS applications with enterprise databases, corporate systems, APIs, and web services. ● Troubleshoot GIS applications, databases, and system integration issues to ensure reliable operations. ● Prepare technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer or training when required.

Requirements ● Bachelor's Degree in Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or related discipline. ● Minimum 8 years of cumulative experience in GIS-related system programming. ● Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development experience using at least two (2) of the following: ○ Python ○ Java ○ C++ ○ JavaScript ● Minimum 3 years of hands-on development experience in web-based GIS. ● Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with spatial or relational databases, such as: ○ SDE / Enterprise Geodatabase ○ Microsoft SQL Server ○ Oracle ○ PostgreSQL ● Experience with at least two (2) of the following web-based GIS technologies: ○ HTML ○ CSS ○ ESRI web development technologies ○ ArcGIS API for JavaScript ○ ArcGIS Experience Builder ○ Web AppBuilder ● Minimum 3 years of cumulative experience working on Oil & Gas industry projects or with Oil & Gas clients. ● Strong understanding of GIS application development, geospatial data management, and enterprise GIS environments. ● Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information ● Work location is on-site in Kuala Lumpur. ● Personnel are required to be available for mobilisation within 14 calendar days from Release Order (RO) issuance. ● The role requires relevant experience supporting GIS operations within an Oil & Gas environment.
