Job Description

The GL Analyst will play a critical role in maintaining accurate general ledger accounts. This position is based in Kuala Lumpur and requires a keen eye for detail and proficiency in accounting processes

Description

Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery

Collaborate with relevant parties in the preparation of statutory financial statements and annual tax returns, where required

Take ownership of financial bookkeeping activities

Post monthly journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and intercompany transactions, and prepare related reports

Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing activities in line with deadlines and processes

Maintain accuracy and completeness of financial data in compliance with Corporate Accounting Guidelines

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accruals are properly recorded and complete

Perform account analysis to validate the accuracy of journal entries and account balances

Reconcile accounts against the general ledger

Conduct monthly and quarterly variance and trend analysis on balance sheet and P&L accounts

Monitor and manage cash flow forecasting for assigned entities in collaboration with the Treasury team

Coordinate and manage both internal and external audit processes

Support the enhancement and implementation of accounting systems, processes, and procedures

Perform additional accounting responsibilities and provide guidance to junior team members as needed

Oversee investment recording and maintain accurate fixed asset registers

Carry out any other duties as assigned by the reporting manager

Profile

A Successful GL Analyst Should Have

  • Educational background in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, and reporting.
  • Prior experience in a General Ledger function within a corporate, SSC, or BPO environment is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and large ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle) is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
