PhD/MSc Opportunity at INBIOSIS UKM Sem 1 2025/2026 [Oct 2025 intake]
Responsibilities
This exciting wet lab project will involve an empirical study of dried yeast viability & vitality, optimisation of enzyme expression for gluten detoxification of flour dough, physico-chemical characterisation of treated dough, and formulation of optimal baking using bioengineered yeast.
*The successful candidate must enroll in a postgraduate programme at INBIOSIS, UKM.
Qualifications
BSc/Master's Degree in Science / Biochemistry / Food Science
Interests in molecular biology, industrial biotechnology, bakery
Diligent & determined to work independently on a research topic for 2-3 years
For international students: CEFR>=B2; TOEFL >=550 / IELTS >=6 with good scientific writing skills
The ideal candidate should have a strong molecular biology background, experience in wet labs (pipetting skills, PCR, extraction, activity assays), and a great interest in food biotechnology, especially bakery.
