Iron Mountain is seeking a vision-driven Grid Connection Lead (Malaysia) to join our Data Center Operations team.

As our primary on-the-ground interface in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, you will drive high-voltage power delivery and navigate complex energy regulatory frameworks to secure crucial grid infrastructure for our expanding data center footprint. In this role, your technical leadership and local market insight will directly power our sustainable digital transformation and secure the foundational energy capacity our regional operations rely on.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

In this role, you will:

• Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Build high-trust, face-to-face relationships with Malaysian utility authorities and task forces, including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Data Center Task Force (DCTF), to gain early visibility into regulatory and grid developments.
• Grid Connection & Power Delivery: Lead the operational lifecycle of high-voltage power delivery (including 275kV/132kV connections) and execute Electricity Supply Agreements (ESA) to meet target energization schedules.
• Cross-Functional & Regional Coordination: Serve as the local generalist bridging Global Energy and Sustainability teams with local Design & Construction (D&C), project management, and site delivery teams.
• Site Management & Mobility: Travel frequently between headquarters in Kuala Lumpur and the project site in Johor to monitor milestone readiness, align local dependencies, and coordinate with site leadership.
• Risk & Lifecycle Management: Proactively identify potential grid, site, and easement delays while navigating local approval frameworks to prevent project slippage and commercial exposure.
  
  

What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)

The ideal candidate will have:

• 8 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in high-voltage electrical assets or energy infrastructure development.
• Deep background handling high-voltage electricity infrastructure within utility networks, renewable energy developers, rail/transit infrastructure, or data center developments.
• Solid baseline understanding of high-voltage grid interconnections, substation requirements, and data center or industrial power architecture.
• Proven relationship-first operational mindset in the Malaysian business environment, prioritizing consistent personal contact and local presence.
• Bilingual fluency in both Bahasa Malaysia and English for seamless communication with local utility teams and global executive leadership.
