Job Description

The Group Finance Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations across the company's global locations. This position requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of international accounting standards, financial reporting, and internal controls.

The Group Finance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's continued growth and success.

This role reports to the Group Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS or relevant accounting standards.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial reporting procedures and controls.
  • Manage entities in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan

Accounting Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable,accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee the accounting for multiple entities across different jurisdictions, especially Indonesia and Thailand.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead and support the annual budgeting process, working closely with the Financial Controller and department heads to develop appropriate budgets.
  • Prepare regular financial forecasts and variance analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to management on financial performance.

Tax Compliance

  • Oversee the company's tax compliance efforts across all jurisdictions, including income tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes.
  • Work with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and implement tax planning strategies to optimise the company's tax burden whilst adhering to Transfer Pricing regulations and standards

Internal Controls

  • Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment to protect company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  • Conduct regular reviews of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals based in Malaysia.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure their success.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Strategic Support

  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, such as acquisitions, expansions, and new product development.
  • Assist in the development of business plans and financial models.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Audit Management

  • Manage the annual external audit process at both a Group level in Singapore and at a local level in Japan and Hong Kong
  • Liaise with external auditors and provide all necessary information and support.
  • Implement audit recommendations and address any identified weaknesses in internal controls.

Cash Management

  • Oversee the company's cash management activities.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity to meet the company's needs.
  • Manage relationships with banks and other financial institutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or relevant accounting standards.
  • Experience with multi-currency accounting and consolidation.
  • Experience with tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Experience in the hospitality or vacation rental industry is a plus.
  • Experience with Xero accounting software is a plus.
