Group General Counsel

Kerry Consulting is currently partnering with a professional services client to looking for a high callibre and stategic Group General Counsel to be based in their Malaysia office. This is a senior executive leadership role, reporting directly to the Group CEO and you will be working closely with Board members with overall responsibility for the legal strategy and governance framework across multiple jurisdictions in APAC.

Responsibilities

You should be a seasoned legal leader with deep expertise in the APAC market, including a strong understanding of cross-border regulatory environments, corporate governance standards, and complex commercial structures across mature and developing markets.

A core focus of the role will be leading and executing M&A initiatives, joint ventures, strategic investments, and post-merger integration from a legal and risk management perspective. The Group General Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing strategic counsel on transactions, expansion plans, compliance, disputes, and enterprise risk.

The incumbent will also have responsibility for corporate secretarial matters, including Board governance, statutory compliance, entity management, and supporting effective Board and committee operations across relevant jurisdictions.

Requirements

In order to be successulf in this role, you should be a seasoned legal leader with deep expertise in the APAC market. You should bring along an entreprenuer spirit and is ready to take the business to the next stage of growth. Prior experience operating at board level and leading legal strategy across APAC is essential. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to balance risk with business objectives are critical to success in this role. Candidates with experience working in a PE-led environment would have an advantage.
