Job Description
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Halal Executive is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Company's Halal, hygiene, food safety, and quality management requirements. The scope of the role generally covers the following areas:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Halal compliance
Ensure raw materials, ingredients, production processes, storage, and handling comply with
halal requirements.
Monitor compliance with the company's Halal Assurance System (HAS).
- Halal certification
Prepare and maintain documents required for halal certification.
Assist with new applications, renewals, and amendments to halal certificates.
Coordinate with halal authorities and auditors during inspections.
- Raw material control
Check the halal status of ingredients and suppliers.
Maintain halal certificates, product specifications, declarations, and supporting documents.
Ensure expired or questionable halal documentation is followed up.
- Internal halal audits
Conduct regular internal halal audits.
Identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor whether corrective actions have been completed.
- Production monitoring
Check that production procedures follow approved halal requirements.
Monitor cleanliness, segregation, equipment, storage, transportation, and handling.
Prevent contamination or mixing with non-halal materials.
- Training
Conduct or coordinate halal awareness training for employees.
Educate staff on halal procedures, hygiene, documentation, and handling requirements.
- Documentation
Maintain halal files and records.
Prepare SOPs, halal policies, audit reports, training records, and monitoring forms.
Ensure documents are updated and readily available for audits.
- Non-conformance management
Investigate halal-related issues or complaints.
Take appropriate corrective and preventive action.
Escalate serious halal issues to management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Professional certification or relevant qualification in Halal Management / Halal Assurance, preferably recognised under the Malaysian Halal certification framework.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant practical experience in the hospitality, food service, food manufacturing, or related industry.
- Hands-on experience in managing Halal compliance, food hygiene, sanitation, HACCP, and quality management requirements.
- Experience in conducting staff training, hygiene briefings, Halal awareness programmes, inspections, and compliance audits.
- Good knowledge of relevant Halal, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards and requirements.
- Strong ability to monitor compliance, identify non-conformities, follow up on corrective actions, and ensure continuous improvement.
