The Head of Architecture Strategy leads enterprisewide technology and architecture direction for the bank. The role analyzes external industry trends and internal IT capabilities to shape strategic priorities, transformation roadmaps, and executive decisions. Working closely with senior leaders and ExCo, the role translates complex data and architectural insights into clear, actionable strategies and executivelevel narratives. Ideal candidates bring strong banking or financial services consulting experience, with a proven ability to structure complex problems, influence senior stakeholders, and provide thought leadership on modern architecture and emerging technologies.
Job Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Strategic Enablement
- Lead and mentor a team of architecture and strategy analysts.
- Establish a disciplined, data-driven operating model to support enterprise-level strategic decision-making.
Market IT & Architecture Trends Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of external IT and architecture trends within the banking and financial services industry.
- Assess relevance, impact, and applicability of emerging trends to Maybank's strategic priorities, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
Internal IT Trends, Practices & Incident Insights
- Analyze internal technology trends, architecture practices, and major incidents to identify systemic issues, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate insights into prioritized initiatives, supported by data, analytics, and evidence-based assessments.
Executive Communication & Presentation Excellence
- Develop high-quality, concise, and outcome-focused presentation materials for senior management and ExCo audiences.
- Clearly communicate strategic insights, trade-offs, and recommendations to enable informed decision-making.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Partner closely with business, technology, and strategy stakeholders to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and align on priorities.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes and drive alignment.
Articulation of Complex Concepts
- Simplify and articulate complex technology, architecture, and business concepts for diverse audiences with varying levels of technical depth.
- Ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency in all strategic communications and narratives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT strategy and analysis.
- Proven experience in the banking consulting industry, preferably with major consulting firms.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
