Job Description

Strategy and Planning

  • Spearhead planning, development and innovating strategies and business plans for Regional Corporate Advisory to drive growth in clients wallet share, customer portfolio growth and cross-selling of CIMB Group products
  • Lead the rollout and execution of Regional Corporate Advisory initiatives
  • Identify key objectives, financial and other performance measures for the Heads of CF, M&A, TSA and PF
  • Identify, allocate and organise resource requirements including people development requirements
  • Keep abreast of the market landscape and key industries highlights in order to envision and create cross-regional and cross-sector business strategies and capitalise on these opportunities.
  • Attendance of board and committee meetings as required

Business Performance and Management

  • Originate investment banking deals including ensuring the achievement of financial performance and objectives of the Corporate Advisory Department
  • Emphasize and drive P&L growth for the Regional Corporate Advisory including client wallet share growth, customer growth and market/product diversification & expansion and improvement initiatives
  • Develops, manages and builds relationships with key and potential regional and country corporate and investment banking clients at the C-Suite level
  • Emphasize and drive cross-selling of non-wholesale products to both corporate clients and the network within their ecosystem
  • Act as senior Executive Sponsor for CIMB's key clients for the investment banking business
  • Maintains contact with key decision makers within key client organisations and keeps abreast of their strategy and future plans.
  • Communicates the strategic objectives of clients to Heads of CF, M&A, TSA and PF and to work with coverage teams to originate and execute deals
  • Facilitate collaboration across wholesale banking for business opportunities and sharing of best practices
  • As role model and drive activities to encourage and build desired organisational culture, values and reputation with all staff, customers and regulatory/official bodies
  • Performs any other tasks or duties as required by management from time-to-time

People Management

  • Develop corporate finance specialists to be able to deepen client understanding and industry knowledge
  • Develop, build and lead effective and cohesive IBK management that operate seamlessly across borders.
  • Manage the performance of the Corporate Advisory teams
  • Work with heads of CF, M&A, TSA and PF to build the talent pipeline and succession plan
  • Share and institutionalise best practices and knowledge, develops sector capabilities and acts as a coach / mentor to selected key talents

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, guidelines and updates, and market conventions issued from time to time.
  • Set the tone to ensure compliance with CIMB Group policies & procedures, Department's policies and procedures, client mandates, and external auditors requirements.
  • Ensure all Corporate Advisory operations are in compliance with regulations

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree or Professional Qualification in the relevant discipline (Accounting/Finance/Business/Economics or equivalent professional qualification)
  • Possess CF Advisory license where required by relevant regulatory authorities
  • 15 years of experience in corporate and/or investment banking at an established bank / financial institution
  • Minimum 5 years of prior senior leadership position in corporate and/or investment banking role at an established bank / financial institution
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate and investment banking products and services including the rules and regulations in the domestic and regional landscapes
  • Good reputation and business network in the corporate and/or investment banking community domestically and regionally
  • Good track record of hitting sales targets, product development and management
  • Leverages regulatory, political and business contacts to shape and influence the business and regulatory environment in the region and in key markets and industries
  • Networks within high potential market segments to build and maintain strategic long term business relationships
  • Effective, commercial experience in running a business and or business units
  • Proven ability to drive revenue and customer portfolio growth across regions
