Job Summary

To mitigate credit risk/investment at pre-approval stage through the provision of independent credit risk appraisal to ensure

comprehensiveness of credit/ investment proposals and prudent conduct in credit/investment granting activities, which

would contribute towards minimizing the Bank's and its subsidiaries impaired credits and impairment provisions arising from

lending/investment activities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Desired Goals
  • Lead and supervise the team in reviewing, enhancing, and developing credit rating models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and relevance.
  • Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) for enhanced or newly developed credit rating models.
  • Supervise staff in retrieving and preparing data for model validation and liaise with consultants or independent parties for data cleansing and validation exercises.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for Credit Risk, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and strategic plans.
  • Monitor performance against the approved budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Customer
  • Supervise and ensure timely validation of credit risk ratings and risk assessments for credit and investment proposals received from BPMB, PLC, and GMV.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive, high-quality Credit Risk Analysis Reports / Investment Risk Analysis Reports within the agreed turnaround time.
  • Promote a strong business partnership approach with stakeholders to support sound and informed credit decisions.
  • Internal Process
  • Maintain and update the Credit Risk Management Policy, Credit Rating Guide, and Credit Risk Assessment Procedures to ensure consistency with current practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead periodic reviews and seek necessary approvals for policy and procedural enhancements related to credit risk management and assessment.
  • Develop and implement additional procedures or controls deemed necessary to strengthen credit risk governance.
  • Ensure all internal documentation, processes, and systems support efficient and effective credit risk management operations.
  • Learning & Growth
  • Identify and recommend relevant training, seminars, and workshops for staff to enhance technical skills and professional competencies.
  • Provide regular coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training to develop staff capabilities.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews to ensure clarity of objectives and alignment with departmental goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and performance excellence within the team.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Credit Professional (Business) or OMEGA Credit Skills Assessment (CSA) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in credit-related functions, including credit evaluation, analysis, and risk management.
  • Strong technical expertise in credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and credit model validation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to drive team performance and collaboration.
  • Good industry knowledge and established professional networking skills.
