Job Description

Job Purpose Summary

The Head of Enterprise Risk lead the company's financial risk, insurance risk, operational risk, and climate risk portfolios, providing independent oversight of the enterprise risk profile. Drive annual policy and framework reviews, ensure regulatory alignment (including BNM requirements), and advise senior management on emerging risks. The role is independent from day‑to‑day operations and requires ongoing professional development in relevant risk disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

Financial & Insurance Risk

  • Lead monthly monitoring of investment and credit risks; prepare/review reports for senior management and board‑level risk committees.
  • Review risk dashboards prepared by regional offices and coordinate the annual review of group ORSA, ICAAP and internal capital standards.
  • Assess and review new or enhanced life insurance products and risk assessment methodologies for regulatory alignment.
  • Formulate and review the Risk Appetite, limits and tolerances consistent with the company's risk profile, capital position and strategy.

Operational Risk

  • Lead timely, complete and accurate submissions of KRI and Loss Event Data (LED) to the BNM Operational Risk Reporting (ORR) system.
  • Lead the annual RCSA exercise, including independent validation, and maintain an enterprise risk heat map.
  • Lead annual outsourcing due diligence and performance reviews, including ad‑hoc assessments and gap analyses.
  • Lead quarterly management risk meetings, providing oversight, updates, and strategic guidance on key risk matters across the organization.
  • Lead gap analysis on new BNM requirements; assess impacts, coordinate remediation, and ensure timely implementation.

Climate Risk

  • Lead climate‑related scenario analysis and stress testing aligned to regulatory expectations.
  • Oversee ESG dashboards from regional offices; review ESG Risk Appetite and KRIs with group expectations.
  • Execute ESG projects in accordance with group criteria, standards and governance; drive implementation of BNM‑related regulatory changes on ESG.

Managerial

  • Provide strategic leadership to Financial, Insurance, Operational and Climate Risk teams; foster collaboration, continuous learning, resiliency and security awareness.
  • Partner with various stakeholders to embed enterprise risk frameworks and appetite into operations and strategic programs.

Qualification

  • Degree or professional qualification in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Statistics or related fields.
  • Minimum 12 years in actuarial/risk/related disciplines in the insurance industry with proven team leadership.
  • Professional risk/actuarial certifications are advantageous.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of local/regional risk practices, robust insurance technical knowledge, and leadership of ERM frameworks/standards.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance requirements; strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills for senior audiences; impeccable report writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; strong stakeholder communication and influence.
  • People leadership and conflict resolution; technology‑enabled risk management mindset
