This role is accountable for operational excellence, customer outcomes, and financial performance across multiple strategic accounts, while shaping the future of Control Tower capabilities within APAC.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Leadership
- Lead all operational activities within a regional Control Tower environment
- Ensure consistent execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and customer requirements
- Own and deliver against operational KPIs, service quality, and customer satisfaction targets
- Drive continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and service delivery
- Act as the senior escalation point for operational and customer-related matters
People & Team Management
- Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse, cross-functional operations team
- Manage performance through KPIs, productivity tracking, and regular reviews
- Ensure appropriate resourcing, workforce planning, and succession development
- Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding, and talent development initiatives
Financial & Contract Oversight
- Own and manage the Control Tower P&L, ensuring profitability across accounts
- Monitor cost drivers, volumes, and scope changes to mitigate commercial risks
- Ensure accurate and timely billing of services delivered
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Collaborate with contract management teams on commercial strategy and account growth
Governance & Implementation
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and governance frameworks
- Oversee successful onboarding of new customers, including SOP development, training, and sign-off
- Support operational readiness and actively contribute to project governance and steering discussions
- Drive performance improvement initiatives in collaboration with process excellence teams
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
- Partner with internal stakeholders and customers to drive continuous improvement and innovation
- Support business development activities, including client presentations and solution workshops
- Foster knowledge sharing and best practices across regional and global operations teams
- Contribute to strategic initiatives to enhance service offerings and operational capabilities
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Logistics, 3PL, Transportation or Supply Chain Management or related field, or comparable work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in freight forwarding operations, or related industry experience (supply chain, warehousing, distribution)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managing larger cross-functional / cross-customer operational teams.
- Solid understanding of the principles of managing a P&L
- Good user knowledge of MS Office
- Experience with logistics software and tools (TMS, WMS, ERP or similar) on an end-user level
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coordinate and support on-site as well as virtual teams
- Highly interested to grow the team's performance with the commitment to drive initiatives to deliver high quality operational services
- Ability to adapt communication to stakeholders of all levels, from operational staff to senior management levels
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory
- Open to work in a multi-cultural and multilingual team, willingness to travel up to 15% of working time (e.g. for customer meetings or to visit off-site operations)
- Additional qualifications such as Six Sigma green belt, Project Management certification etc.
- In-depth logistics / forwarding experience in one or multiple of the following industry sectors: Automotive, Aerospace, Pharma / Healthcare, High-tech or consumer
