Job Purpose
To lead the Equity Capital Market (ECM) unit within Investment Banking, focusing on the origination, execution and syndication of equity fund raising and equity-linked offerings. The role ensures quality delivery of transactions, supports client relationship management, and contributes to business revenue while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Descriptions
Deal Origination, Execution and Syndication
- Leading day-to-day origination, execution and syndication of ECM-related transactions (including but not limited to IPOs, primary and secondary private placements and rights issues).
- Supervising end-to-end equity deal execution, including organising roadshows, liaising with syndicate banks and legal counsels, book building, settlement and regulatory submission.
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Client Advisory & Solutions, Equity Trading, Debt Markets, Corporate Banking and Development Finance teams on distribution and cross-selling opportunities.
- Provide market insights to guide transaction structuring and investor targeting.
- Ensure all ECM transactions comply with securities regulations and internal risk policies.
Client Management & Negotiations
- Taking on a client coverage role for idea origination, deal pitching and fee negotiations, and to build relationships with corporates, institutions and investors.
- Building strong relationships with domestic and international buy-side and hedge funds, and non-institutional investors, including high net worths and family offices.
- Interfacing regularly with clients and regulators, mainly on deal-specific matters.
Strategic Planning and Positioning
- Responsible for crafting annual business strategy and action plans, KPI setting, and performance tracking as per the balanced scorecard.
- Mentor, train, and develop high-performing teams.
- Providing input into ECM and Equity Markets strategy, but does not carry full strategic ownership (final approval sits with Head of Equity Markets and CEO/Head of IB).
- Execute additional duties assigned by Senior Management.
Qualifications & Experiences
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or Professional Certifications (CFA or equivalent) added advantage.
- CMSRL preferred.
- Strong knowledge of capital markets, securities laws, and listing regulations.
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience in investment banking, with at least 5 years in equity capital markets leadership roles.
- Proven track record in originating and executing ECM transactions (IPOs, rights issues, private placements).
- Established network of corporate, institutional investors, and regulators within regional capital markets.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing P&L responsibilities.
