About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Finance to lead and oversee the financial management of the organisation.

The role is responsible for ensuring sound financial governance, accurate reporting, effective budget and cash flow management, compliance with statutory and funding requirements, and proper financial oversight across the organisation's projects and funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the organisation's overall accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial reports, cash flow reports, and budget variance analysis.
• Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and ongoing budget monitoring.
• Oversee project and grant financial management, including tracking expenditure against approved budgets and funding requirements.
• Review invoices, payment requests, staff claims, reimbursements, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and budget availability.
• Submit reviewed payment requests and supporting documents to the Executive Director or authorised approver for approval before payment processing.
• Monitor cash flow, bank balances, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial commitments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, statutory, audit, donor, and funding requirements.
• Coordinate annual external audits and follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
• Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, policies, procedures, and approval processes.
• Provide financial analysis and advice to the Executive Director, Management, and Board to support informed decision-making.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the Finance team.
• Work closely with HR, Project Teams, Procurement, and Management on financial planning and project-related financial matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, audit, and internal controls.
• Experience in NGO, non-profit, grant-funded, or project-based organisations is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian statutory and financial requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently, provide clear financial advice to Management, identify financial risks early, and ensure that the organisation's funds are managed responsibly and transparently.
