Position Summary
The Head of Human Resources (HR) is a strategic HR leader responsible for aligning the organisation's business objectives with its people and management agenda. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the Board and Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic counsel and guidance on all human resource–related matters.
The Head of HR proactively assesses and anticipates strategic and operational HR needs, risks, and changes in employment legislation to ensure organisational readiness, sustainability, and compliance. This role builds strong partnerships across the HR function and the wider business to deliver value-added, strategic HR solutions that support the organisation's long-term business objectives.
In addition, the Head of HR maintains a high level of business and commercial acumen, with a strong understanding of the business unit's financial position, mid-term strategic plans, organisational culture, and competitive landscape, ensuring HR strategies are fully integrated with overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Develop and execute a strategic HR agenda that aligns people, culture, and capability with the organisation's overall business strategy.
- Establish effective business partnering relationships with senior business leaders and their lines of business to understand key business drivers, measures of success and strategic priorities.
- Develop, review and maintain HR practices, policies and procedures, ensure its alignment to management, legal and legislative requirements and to ensure Company systems, policies and procedures are followed by stakeholders.
- Provide HR operational support for change management initiatives including organizational design, cost optimization, pandemic crisis, talent management, communication and performance management.
- Design and implement talent management strategies, including talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, and succession planning.
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and rewards strategies to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and alignment with business goals.
- Identify and analyse people data and performance metrics to contribute to the planning process and development of appropriate HR activities.
- Collaborate with Legal Department on the completion of Data Protection project.
Requirements: -
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline.
- Proven experience in HR generalist roles at Senior Management level.Proven experience as a Head of HR, HR Director, or senior HR leader, with demonstrated success in driving strategic HR initiatives aligned to business objectives.
- Ability to develop relationships into position of influence with senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to understand the global, regional and local context and translate this knowledge into HR initiatives.
- Strong Knowledge of local employment law and relevant legislation.
- Strong Knowledge and experience in Recruitment and Industrial Relations.
- Experience working in Telecommunications or Supply Chain/Logistics is desirable.
- Bilingual within languages relevant to Malaysian operations is highly valued.
- Regional HR experience or knowledge in Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan & China.
