Housemistress – Boarding House & Pastoral Care

Location: Bandar Baru Enstek, Negeri Sembilan

Industry: International Education / Boarding School

Salary: RM8,000

An established international boarding school in Bandar Baru Enstek is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Housemistress to oversee the pastoral care, daily management, discipline, welfare, and overall boarding experience of pupils.

This role is suitable for candidates who are passionate about student development, child safeguarding, pastoral care, and creating a structured, supportive, and positive living environment within a boarding school setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily organisation, administration, and operation of the boarding House.
  • Provide strong pastoral care and support to pupils, including monitoring their emotional, academic, social, and behavioural wellbeing.
  • Identify individual pupil needs, strengths, and areas for development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, tutors, counsellors, medical staff, and senior school leadership to support pupil welfare.
  • Monitor pupils academic progress and assist with online learning where required.
  • Handle parent communication as the main point of contact regarding pupil progress, welfare, and concerns.
  • Implement behaviour management procedures fairly and consistently, including rewards and consequences.
  • Ensure all safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, pupil welfare, incidents, and safeguarding matters.
  • Lead, support, and mentor tutors and House staff to ensure a safe and positive boarding environment.
  • Work with relevant departments to ensure House facilities are well maintained, safe, and suitable for pupils.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in education, boarding school, pastoral care, student welfare, counselling, child development, or related fields will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, student wellbeing, and discipline management.
  • Able to communicate professionally with parents, pupils, teachers, counsellors, and school management.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, and organisational skills.
  • Able to manage sensitive student welfare matters with maturity and discretion.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours in a boarding school environment.
  • Patient, approachable, reliable, resilient, and calm under pressure.
  • Must be willing to undergo child protection screening and reference checks.
