Job Description

The ideal candidate is responsible for leading and managing the full spectrum of Human Resources and Learning & Development functions, including HR policies, talent management, compensation and benefits, employee and labour relations, while ensuring the effective implementation of corporate policies and achievement of organisational objectives.will act as an employee champion and a leader of change. You will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Leadership

  • Lead and oversee the full spectrum of Human Resources and Learning & Development functions in alignment with the Hotel's business objectives and corporate HR direction.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with corporate HR policies, systems, procedures, rules and regulations across all departments.
  • Review and recommend improvements to HR policies, procedures and the Team Member Handbook in consultation with the General Manager and Corporate HR.
  • Provide professional HR advice and guidance to the General Manager and Department Heads on people-related matters.

Organisation & Manpower Planning

  • Review and validate the Hotel's organisational structure, manpower requirements and job specifications to support operational and business needs.
  • Develop and monitor manpower plans, succession plans and workforce strategies in line with the Hotel's business objectives and budget.

Talent Acquisition & Employment

  • Lead and oversee recruitment, selection, hiring, placement, onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Ensure recruitment practices meet the Hotel's required standards, job specifications and manpower requirements.
  • Monitor recruitment effectiveness and provide recommendations to address manpower gaps, talent availability and market challenges.
  • Ensure appropriate pre-employment screening and reference checks are conducted.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee wage and salary administration, including market benchmarking and salary surveys.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Corporate Compensation & Benefits to develop and implement competitive and sustainable compensation structures.
  • Monitor payroll and manpower costs against approved budgets and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support the implementation and administration of performance appraisal, incentive, bonus and recognition programmes.

Team Member Relations & Engagement

  • Develop and implement annual Team Member engagement, welfare and relations programmes to strengthen communication, morale, retention and organisational commitment.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture through effective engagement initiatives and communication channels.
  • Provide guidance to management on Team Member relations matters and facilitate effective resolution of workplace concerns.

Industrial & Employee Relations

  • Ensure the Hotel's employment practices comply with applicable labour and employment legislation, regulations and corporate requirements.
  • Keep management informed of developments and trends in labour and industrial relations.
  • Advise management and Department Heads on the interpretation and implementation of employment legislation, policies and regulations.
  • Manage and provide professional guidance on disciplinary, grievance and industrial relations matters in accordance with due process.

Team Member Benefits & Welfare

  • Oversee the administration of statutory and Hotel-provided benefits, welfare programmes and Team Member services.
  • Review benefits and welfare practices against industry standards and recommend improvements based on organisational and Team Member needs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of data and reports supporting corporate appraisal, bonus and benefits programmes.

Learning & Development

  • Lead the implementation of corporate and Hotel learning and development strategies and programmes.
  • Ensure effective training needs analysis and development planning across all departments.
  • Strengthen the Hotel's internal training capability, including the development and certification of departmental trainers.
  • Coordinate with Department Heads on on-the-job training, leadership development, talent development and succession planning.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and impact of learning and development initiatives.

Performance & Talent Management

  • Drive the implementation of performance management and talent development initiatives across the Hotel.
  • Identify high-potential Team Members and support career development, succession planning and internal mobility.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance improvement and effective people management practices.

HR Records, Governance & Confidentiality

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of Team Member records and HR documentation.
  • Oversee proper maintenance, control and security of personnel files and confidential HR information.
  • Ensure HR processes and documentation are properly maintained and readily available for audit and management review.

HR Planning, Reporting & Budget

  • Prepare the annual HR business plan, objectives, programme calendar and departmental budget.
  • Monitor HR expenditure and ensure activities are delivered within the approved budget.
  • Provide regular HR reports, dashboards, workforce analytics and management updates to the General Manager and Corporate HR.
  • Analyse HR trends and data to support informed business and people decisions.

Other Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Human Resources Team, ensuring clear objectives, accountability, teamwork and professional standards.
  • Provide HR leadership and support to all departments in achieving business and people objectives.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager, consistent with the scope of the position and Company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or professional qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality, with at least 10 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment legislation, industrial relations, employee relations, compensation and benefits, talent management and learning & development.
  • Proven experience managing the full spectrum of HR functions within a sizeable and diverse organisation.
  • Strong leadership, people management, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively partner with the General Manager, Department Heads, Corporate HR and business stakeholders.
