Brief Description / Purpose of the function: 

HB Leisure is looking for a People and Culture Executive to support the local and regional growth of the HR function of HB Leisure. You will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but could be required for some regional travel based on business needs. You will cover (but not limited to) the main areas of Employee Relations, Recruitment, Compensation and Benefits, and Learning and Development.

Key areas of responsibility:

Employee Relations

  • To advise, guide and support managers with all matters relating to employee relations
  • Advising on policies and process updates in line with Employment Law changes and updates
  • Supporting with training needs analysis in conjunction with the Operations Manager and General Manager
  • Effective case management of people related issues such as disciplinary, performance management, capability, Fair Work conciliation, grievance, absence management and flexible working
  • Monitoring trends in employment practices and advising on appropriate, proactive action
  • Providing advice and guidance on disciplinary and welfare cases, capability, grievance and coaching managers where appropriate
  • Support the global HR function and territory aspiration with the people roadmap through effective upskilling, building management capability and transition to senior roles
  • Lead with disputes accordingly
  • Dealing with all aspects of employee relations processes including risk assessing options available to managers
  • Supporting management at disciplinaries and hearings as needed
  • Responsible for the review of all contractual paperwork for our employees to ensure it meets statutory requirements.
  • Responsible for the content of the Employee Handbook
  • Ensuring on boarding paperwork is completed

Recruitment

  • Responsible for the management of the recruitment of all employees in Malaysia
  • Employment checks as necessary 
  • Review of job descriptions as necessary
  • Conducting recruitment drives at specialized events such as career fairs
  • Liaising with Job Boards to ensure a strong ROI to run campaigns
  • Supporting with and provide coordination for the interview process when required
  • Providing and delivering suitable templates to confirm job offers or job rejects
  • Provide recruitment support for the APAC region

Pay and benefits

  • Ensuring payroll is submitted on time for approval and processing on HRIS platform
  • Dealing with pay queries 
  • Ensuring absences and leave are recorded appropriately

Learning & Development

  • Development/upskilling managers via the appraisal process
  • Identify training needs and source appropriate training, if necessary devise and deliver internally
  • Support the performance management process with appropriate training interventions as needed

General Administration

  • Ad hoc administration as required
  • Drafting letters and templates for managers
  • Ad hoc tasks as required by the needs of the business
