Job Description

We are seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager with strong payroll expertise to oversee critical HR operational processes in a dynamic higher-education environment.

This role is well suited to a hands-on HR professional who combines payroll expertise, strong analytical capability, and HR systems knowledge to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and data-driven decision-making.

You will take direct ownership of payroll, HR data management, and core HR operational processes, playing a key role in maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and strong governance across the employee lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience managing payroll and HR systems, strong attention to detail, and confidence working with HR data, compliance requirements, and time-sensitive processes. Applicants should also have strong HR data and reporting capability.

What You'll Do:

Payroll & Compensation Administration

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Maintain payroll records and statutory submissions in line with Malaysian regulatory requirements.
  • Support salary reviews, job evaluations, and compensation data preparation.

HRIS, Reporting & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data in the HRIS (Zoho).
  • Prepare HR reports and dashboards to support management insights.
  • Support audit, accreditation, and statutory reporting requirements.

Employee Lifecycle & Benefits Administration

  • Administer medical benefits, leave, insurance, and wellness programs.
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including promotions, transfers, contract changes, and expatriate documentation.

Policies & Compliance

  • Support the implementation and updating of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment laws and internal governance requirements.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Coordinate smooth onboarding and exit processes for employees.
  • Conduct exit interviews and summarize feedback for HR review.

Employee Engagement & HR Projects

  • Support employee engagement and internal HR initiatives.
  • Contribute to HR process improvements and HR system enhancements.

HR Business Partner Support

  • Provide operational HR support to assigned departments on employee relations, performance matters, and HR processes.

What We're Looking For:

Degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum 8 years of HR operations experience, with hands-on payroll processing and administration.

Good analytical skills with strong Excel capability; experience with HR reporting or dashboards is an advantage.

Experience working with HRIS systems and maintaining accurate HR data.

Working knowledge of Malaysian employment laws and statutory requirements.

Meticulous, well-organized, and able to manage time-sensitive operational processes.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to prepare clear reports, policies, and professional communications.
