HVAC Quality Engineer - Data Centre Industry

Key Responsibilities

1. HVAC System Quality Management

• Responsible for quality supervision and process control of HVAC systems for data center projects, including chilled water systems, precision air-conditioning systems, ventilation and exhaust systems, temperature and humidity control, etc.
• Review construction drawings and technical documents, and verify that on-site installation is consistent with the approved design.
• Conduct quality inspections of materials, equipment, and installation workmanship to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and project standards.
• Assist in preparing and updating quality inspection checklists and forms.

2. Construction & Inspection Coordination

• Organize and coordinate interim inspections, concealed works inspections, and witnessing of system testing and commissioning in accordance with the construction schedule.
• Maintain technical communication with the China-based technical team and consultants to ensure consistent understanding of construction standards among all parties.
• Follow up on inspection comments from the PMC/consultants, coordinate rectification works, and submit documentation for re-inspection.
• Participate in equipment inspection upon delivery/unpacking, FAT/SAT, system testing, commissioning, and final handover.

3. Documentation & Submission

• Prepare and/or review HVAC-related quality submission and approval documents.
• Assist in translating technical documents between Chinese, English, and Malay to ensure they meet consultant approval requirements.
• Work closely with the documentation team to ensure quality records are complete, properly maintained, and traceable.

4. Quality Management System Implementation

• Implement the company's and project's QA/QC systems and carry out quality inspection procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Participate in internal quality audits and rectification meetings, and follow up on corrective actions until issues are closed.
• Assist in establishing inspection standards and technical guidelines/SOPs for HVAC installation and commissioning phases.

5. Technical Support & Training

• Provide technical guidance to local construction teams and subcontractors during HVAC installation works.
• Train on-site QA/QC personnel and construction workers on the interpretation and application of Chinese technical drawings and standards.
• Provide Chinese-English-Malay language support to minimize quality risks caused by language barriers.

Job Requirements

1. Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, M&E Engineering, or a related field, with at least 1-3 years of experience in HVAC installation, construction, or quality management, preferably within large-scale construction or data center projects. Experience with international or China-invested projects is an advantage.
2. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation standards, commissioning procedures, and testing requirements, with familiarity with standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ISO. Candidates should be able to read Chinese and English technical drawings and be proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, PDF markup tools, and QA/QC documentation.
3. Detail-oriented, responsible, and strong in communication and coordination, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, coordinate between Chinese technical teams and local consultants, and adapt quickly to new requirements.
4. Proficient in English and Malay for communication and technical documentation; Chinese language proficiency is an added advantage.
