A rare Independent Director opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic and expanding F&B retail organisation
Your new company
A wellestablished food and beverage group in Malaysia, the organisation oversees multiple business divisions, including key retailrelated functions that drive customer experience and commercial performance. Known for its stability, structured environment, and commitment to operational excellence, the company offers strong growth opportunities, a collaborative culture, and the chance to contribute to impactful initiatives.
Your new role
- Lead an effective and independent Board, set strategic agendas, ensure highquality decisionmaking, and uphold strong governance standards across all committees.
- Guide and challenge the Board on Malaysia market entry, expansion strategy, brand localisation, store rollout, supplychain readiness, and longterm growth direction.
- Provide independent oversight of management, set KPIs and milestones for the CEOs, lead performance evaluations, ensure accountability, and maintain alignment with licensor/franchisor requirements.
- Ensure robust corporate governance, oversee enterprise risk (food safety, halal, regulatory, labour, supply chain), and establish strong internal controls and compliance frameworks.
- Lead reviews of budgets, business plans, capital expenditure and financial performance; ensure cashflow discipline and timely corrective actions during expansion phases.
- Serve as the primary link between Board and shareholders, manage key external relationships (licensors, regulators, landlords), and lead the Board effectively during crises or major organisational changes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience serving as a Board President or Independent Director, ideally within QSR, food manufacturing, F&B, retail, or franchised/licensed business models.
- Strong track record in market entry, earlystage business scaling, or overseeing multisite operations, with the ability to guide expansion strategy and execution.
- Demonstrated capability in management oversight, coaching CEOs, setting performance KPIs, and ensuring accountability across senior leadership teams.
- Deep understanding of corporate governance, financial management, risk frameworks, and compliance - including food safety, halal, regulatory, and operational risks.
- Must satisfy Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance independence criteria, with no material business or financial relationships with shareholders, franchisors, or management, and willingness to reaffirm independence annually.
What you'll get in return
- The opportunity to lead and shape the strategic direction of a wellestablished retailfocused organisation.
- A highly visible leadership role with direct influence on commercial performance, operational excellence, and long-term business growth.
- A collaborative and supportive work environment with strong leadership involvement.
- Competitive remuneration package, performance rewards, and long-term career development pathways.
