Technical Project Manager

Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Contract Duration: 6 months + 6 months (12 months total)

Language Requirements: Fluent English

What can you expect

  • Implement project governance and manage stakeholders and team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Understand program goals, challenge technical decisions as needed, and communicate effectively with appropriate audiences.
  • Define and maintain project methodology, approach, and realistic plans; keep stakeholders updated.
  • Manage work streams, prepare status reports, and ensure execution aligns with objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Establish and continuously review comprehensive project scope; manage scope changes effectively.
  • Identify, track, and escalate risks and issues; recommend corrective actions and hold teams accountable.
  • Follow delivery methodology, engage resources, and maintain project quality through change control processes.
  • Understand business needs and expected benefits; ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop implementation and benefits realization plans to support successful delivery and adoption.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, change control, and reporting.
  • Optimize resource allocation and build collaborative, motivated teams; manage team performance.
  • Conduct productive meetings and track action items.
  • Use personal influence to manage conflicts and differing opinions.
  • Lead coordination across multiple work streams, including business, operations, IT, and global teams.
  • Work flexibly across time zones and maintain a global perspective aligned with best practices.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to promote transparency and effective communication.
  • Identify training needs, conduct skill gap analyses, and develop team development plans.
  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Resolve team conflicts to maintain focus and timely delivery.
  • Develop and execute engagement plans to motivate teams and stakeholders.
  • Regularly report project status, risks, and issues to senior management.
  • Escalate issues promptly to ensure timely resolution and project success.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead and manage the project team, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within scope.
  • Define, refine, and track project scope, milestones, and progress.
  • Implement and oversee processes to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and communicate progress.
  • Escalate issues as needed to keep the project on track.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Agile Scrum or PMP certification required.
  • Over 12 years of experience in project management, scrum master, or similar roles, with leadership and management expertise.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale IT projects and programs across the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of structured development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Extensive technical understanding of application architectures, infrastructure, databases, AI technologies, and software system development, including Operations Support Systems and integration dependencies.
  • Experience working in matrix and vendor-resourced environments, collaborating with third parties and outsourcers.
  • Excellent people management, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal in English.
  • Agile training and hands-on experience.
  • Broad working knowledge across technology domains including SDLC, end-user platforms, and IT operations.

  • Expert knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, to deliver solutions.
  • Proven success with managing teams and delivering successfully using Scrum Agile Framework.
  • Knowledge of the insurance domain and experience handling insurance-related projects is a plus.
  • Prince 2 Practitioner, PMP qualifications; Agile training and experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Office 365/Teams/ Project & Visio
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, across varying business and functional units
  • Knowledge & proven experience within the Financial Services industry, ideally with Insurance Broking market experience
