Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Project Ownership (Interconnection Scope)
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of interconnection facilities:
- TNB substation / switching station
- HV/MV systems (11kV / 33kV / 132kV or higher)
- Transmission lines / underground cable systems
- Ensure delivery in line with project timeline, budget, and quality requirements.
- Develop and track detailed interconnection schedule aligned with overall COD milestones.
2. Authority & Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary interface with:
- Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), SEDA and other relevant authorities
- Lead all submissions and approvals: Interconnection application, Design approvals and protection studies, Energization approvals (Borang G, H, etc.) , Chair/attend high-level technical and coordination meetings.
3. Engineering & Design Oversight
- Oversee and validate engineering deliverables: SLDs, protection schemes, cable sizing, routing Grid compliance studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination)
- Ensure designs comply with: TNB Grid Code / Distribution Code IEC, MS standards
- Manage design consultants and internal engineering teams.
4. Construction & Execution Management
- Lead site execution of interconnection facilities:
- Substation construction, Transmission line / cable installation, Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Monitor progress, productivity, and resource allocation. Enforce HSE, QA/QC compliance across all activities.
5. Testing, Commissioning & Energization
- Oversee full T&C strategy and execution:
- Protection relay testing, SCADA / telemetry integration, Grid compliance testing, Coordinate closely with TNB for: Witness testing, System integration, Final energization approval, Ensure successful synchronization and grid export readiness.
6. Commercial & Contract Management
- Manage interconnection-related contracts and costs.
- Review and certify subcontractor claims.
- Handle variation orders, claims, and EOT related to interconnection scope.
- Control budget and ensure cost efficiency.
7. Risk & Schedule Management
- Identify key risks: Authority delays, Technical issues (e.g., protection scheme mismatch), Site constraints, Develop mitigation strategies to avoid COD impact. Drive recovery plans when delays occur.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Provide regular reporting to Project Director / Management:
- Progress updates, Risk registers, Approval status tracking, Ensure proper documentation for: As-built drawings, Handover and final documentation to client/TNB.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in Project Manager / Electrical Engineering Role (Construction/RE)
- Experience in basic all round engineering, construction, and project management
- Knowledge of renewable energy, solar PV systems and HV System is added into advantage
- Strong communication, active and good attitude (proactive)
- Strong project management skills, resources management and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in writing, report preparation, and project paper works.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and project ownership
- Ability to collaborate with technical teams and other stakeholders
- Previous experience in at least construction field
- Understand and experience in entire project lifecycle
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management, Construction, or a related field
