We are seeking an experienced Inventory Control & Costing Specialist with a strong track record in hands-on inventory management, financial accuracy, and commercial awareness.
This role requires someone who can independently own inventory control processes, ensure data integrity, and work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, and Operations to support costing, pricing, and margin optimisation. This role is an off-shore supporting role which does not require physical presence in the warehouse. Nevertheless comprehensive knowledge of warehousing activities is required.
Role Nature
This is a hands-on, operational role first.
You will be directly involved in:
- Inventory control
- Stock reconciliation
- Transaction validation
Before expanding into:
- Costing
- Pricing
- Margin analysis
This is not a reporting-only or purely analytical role.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain inventory accuracy across 5,000+ SKUs
- Perform and validate inventory reconciliation (physical vs system)
- Investigate discrepancies and conduct root cause analysis
- Analyse stock movements (inbound, outbound, transfers, adjustments, conversions)
- Support and validate stocktake processes (cycle counts & full counts)
- Ensure compliance with inventory SOPs, controls, and transaction processes
- Monitor and flag high-value variances and risks
Costing, Pricing & Margin Responsibilities
- Support and validate inventory costing and valuation accuracy
- Conduct margin analysis across product lines and customer segments
- Review and maintain customer and supplier pricing structures
- Assess impact of pricing changes on profitability and cost position
- Work with Finance and commercial teams to ensure alignment between inventory, costing, and pricing decisions
Key Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Minimum 8–10 years experience in inventory control within a manufacturing, distribution, or ERP-driven environment
- Proven hands-on experience managing inventory operations (not limited to reporting or oversight)
- Strong understanding of:
- stock movement and stock cards
- inventory reconciliation (physical vs system)
- variance investigation and root cause analysis
- Experience working with high-volume SKU environments
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory modules
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, lookups, reporting)
Highly Valued
- Experience in inventory costing, pricing, or margin analysis
- Understanding of how inventory impacts COGS, profitability, and financial reporting
- Exposure to pricing structures (customer/supplier) and cost analysis
- Experience working across Finance, Procurement, and commercial teams
- Professional qualification such as CIMA (or equivalent) is an added advantage, particularly with exposure to inventory, costing, or operational finance
This Role Is NOT Suitable If You:
- Prefer purely analytical, reporting, or pricing-only roles
- Do not have hands-on experience in inventory control or reconciliation
- Are not comfortable working at a detailed operational level daily
