Team overview:
The Investment and Returns team is part of the Group CEO's office and has two primary aspects to its mandate. Firstly, it is the custodian of TIME Group's obligation to meet appropriate shareholder returns across its overall business. It therefore supports the Group CEO in this endeavor spanning across all Operating Profit Units (OPUs eg. Consumer/Enterprise/Wholesale), Group Functions and associate ventures. Secondly, it has direct responsibility for TIME's international portfolio of affiliated companies/ventures and supports an Executive Director in overseeing this portfolio of investments. Currently, the International portfolio is comprised of affiliated investments in telecommunications and Data Centre companies in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. The Investment and Returns team is led by a Chief Investment and Returns Officer (CIRO).
Job Overview:
The Investment and Returns Associate will play a key role supporting both mandates of the Investment and Return team. This will entail working with the CIRO and GCEO in all efforts to drive shareholder returns, as well as working on the international affiliate investment portfolio. Core aspects of the role entail analyzing management and organizational problems, distilling information and developing solutions as well as creating impactful communications. It is expected that there will be multiple streams of work running in parallel, hence an ability to multi-task and strong project management skills are necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute problem solving, information analysis and creating impactful presentations to support the Investment and Returns teams in delivering on its mandate.
- Work with and support the CIRO and team to deliver the following requirements -
- Managing investments in Associates and Joint Ventures (JVs), covering partner collaboration, funding, and shareholder agreements.
- Oversee investments in subsidiaries, including those managed by minority partners, focusing on strategic direction and incentives.
- Actively track business and industry performance against plans, competitive landscapes, and effectiveness of strategic actions, including development of appropriate investment and business performance metrics and reporting structures.
- Support the identification and evaluation of potential new investment or partnership opportunities and transactions.
- Prepare GMC and board proposals and presentations, providing essential support to the GCEO/CIRO for governance matters.
- Support the development of the Investment and Returns team across team capabilities, information resources, analytical tools and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in strategy, business management, or transformation gained from management consulting or in-house strategy and planning
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skill-set and familiarity with methods and tools
- Proven track record in managing complex projects and organizational change.
- Strong communication skills in preparing and delivering presentations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and often unstructured environment with senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Telecommunications and/or Media and Technology industry is an added advantage
