Job Role: IT Security Operations Specialist

Role Overview

MetLife is seeking a Security Operations Specialist to lead and enhance the organization's security posture. This role is responsible for managing security operations, driving incident response, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The position requires hands-on expertise in security technologies, proactive threat management, and collaboration across IT and business teams.

Vulnerability Management

  • Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities through regular scans and analysis.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement effective fixes.

Incident Response

  • Lead and participate in the incident response lifecycle: investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Document security incidents and contribute to post-incident analysis for continuous improvement.

Security Monitoring & Analysis

  • Continuously monitor security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoint security) for alerts and anomalies.
  • Analyze security events to determine root causes and recommend appropriate responses.

Security Tooling & Management

  • Implement, configure, and manage security tools and technologies.
  • Ensure tools are up-to-date and effectively support the organization's security objectives.

Threat Intelligence

  • Stay current with emerging threats, attack techniques, and vulnerabilities.
  • Apply threat intelligence to strengthen monitoring and incident response capabilities.

Policy & Procedure Implementation

  • Assist in developing and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Promote adherence to security guidelines across the organization.

Security Audits & Compliance

  • Support internal and external security audits.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards by gathering evidence and facilitating audit processes.

Security Awareness

  • Contribute to security awareness training by providing technical insights and guidance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with IT teams (network, systems, development) to integrate security into processes.
  • Communicate security matters effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in security operations.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with security monitoring tools (SIEM platforms).
  • Familiarity with network security concepts (firewalls, IDS/IPS).
  • Experience with cloud services (Azure, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Proficiency in Active Directory, DFS, DNS.
  • Networking and security expertise (next-generation firewalls, load balancers, switching; Cisco, Palo Alto preferred).
  • Relevant security certifications (CompTIA Security+, CEH, SSCP) are a plus.
