Java Backend

Role -

. Design, build, and scale backend services and data pipelines that power search indexing

. Own performance, capacity, and reliability for your components - including latency, freshness, and indexing throughput

. Debug and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems

. Partner with search ranking, serving, and product teams to evolve the indexing stack toward new requirements

. Raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship of other engineers

. Drive technical direction for your area, including migrations off legacy components

Minimum qualifications

-5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend or distributed systems

. Strong programming skills in one or more of C++, Java, Go, Rust, or Python

. Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production

. Experience diagnosing and fixing performance, scalability, and reliability problems

. Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous, multi-quarter technical problems end to end

Preferred qualifications

. Direct experience with searchinfrastructure: inverted indexes, indexing pipelines, retrieval, or queryserving

. Experience with stream processingand large-scale data systems

. Experience with storage systems,caching layers, or sharding and replication strategies

. Track record of migrating orre-platforming production systems with no user-visible disruption
