About the Role

Our client is a specialized trading company supplying Japanese factory automation (FA) components to manufacturing customers. They are looking for a Key Account Manager to manage existing accounts while gradually expanding new business opportunities.

This role is highly relationship-driven, with a strong focus on customer engagement, solution-based selling, and long-term account development. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow relationships with an established customer base
  • Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable FA components or technical solutions.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers to strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely order processing and delivery.
  • Handle customer enquiries, prepare quotations, and support basic commercial negotiations.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, mainly within Penang, with occasional travel to Kuala Lumpur.
  • Prepare simple sales updates and reports as required.

General Requirements

Must Have

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or relationship-based sales
  • OR
  • An engineering background with exposure to project coordination and client-facing negotiations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build customer trust.
  • Honest, responsible, and professional working attitude.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, lean team environment.
  • Possess a valid driving licence and own a car.

Good to Have

  • Experience in industrial trading, factory automation, or industrial components.
  • Ability to quickly learn technical products and explain them clearly to customers.
  • Japanese language proficiency (eligible for language allowance).
