About the Role
Our client is a specialized trading company supplying Japanese factory automation (FA) components to manufacturing customers. They are looking for a Key Account Manager to manage existing accounts while gradually expanding new business opportunities.
This role is highly relationship-driven, with a strong focus on customer engagement, solution-based selling, and long-term account development. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow relationships with an established customer base
- Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable FA components or technical solutions.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely order processing and delivery.
- Handle customer enquiries, prepare quotations, and support basic commercial negotiations.
- Conduct regular customer visits, mainly within Penang, with occasional travel to Kuala Lumpur.
- Prepare simple sales updates and reports as required.
General Requirements
Must Have
- Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or relationship-based sales
- OR
- An engineering background with exposure to project coordination and client-facing negotiations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build customer trust.
- Honest, responsible, and professional working attitude.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, lean team environment.
- Possess a valid driving licence and own a car.
Good to Have
- Experience in industrial trading, factory automation, or industrial components.
- Ability to quickly learn technical products and explain them clearly to customers.
- Japanese language proficiency (eligible for language allowance).
