Job Description

About KPMG In Malaysia's Risk Advisory Function

KPMG in Malaysia's Risk Advisory function supports clients in navigating an increasingly complex risk landscape by delivering services across accounting expertise, governance, financial crime risks, internal controls, enterprise risk, financial risk, and sustainability.

The Risk Advisory teams help organizations strengthen resilience, enhance governance, meet regulatory expectations, and build sustainable long-term value. Through our five core pillars—Accounting Advisory Services (AAS), Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRCS), Financial Risk Management (FRM), Forensics Services (FRS) and Sustainability Services—we help clients manage risks while identifying opportunities to transform and improve business performance.

Joining Risk Advisory as an intern offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside industry professionals across multiple high-impact service lines.

Why this Opportunity Stands Out

  • Exposure to multiple advisory disciplines: Gain experience in governance, internal audit, financial risk, sustainability, and compliance work.
  • Real client-facing experience: Participate in professional engagements that build practical skills valued in consulting, finance, and risk industries.
  • Professional development in a Big Four environment: Learn from high-performing advisors and work within a structured, globally recognized professional services firm.
  • Strong career foundation: This internship opens pathways into future full-time roles within Advisory, Audit, Risk Consulting, or Sustainability.
  • Hands-on work from day one: Interns are trusted with meaningful tasks, not just administrative support.

What can you expect

As a Risk Advisory intern, you will be assigned to one of the following teams, GRCS, FRM, or Sustainability Services —based on your academic background and interests. Regardless of placement, you will gain meaningful exposure to real client engagements, risk advisory methodologies, and business advisory practices.

  • Regulatory and compliance work (e.g., BNM guidelines, Basel, IFRS 9)
  • Research on financial risk regulations and industry developments
  • Supporting risk analytics and documentation for advisory engagements
  • Working with engagement-in-charge to produce project deliverables

Sustainability Services

  • Sustainability reporting and ESG-related advisory work
  • Research on sustainability frameworks, climate-related standards & global developments
  • Supporting internal and external ESG initiatives
  • Preparing working papers, data analysis, and project documentation
  • Assisting the engagement team in delivering sustainability and climate advisory services

Interns will experience a collaborative, fast-paced work environment and gain exposure to real deliverables, client communication, research activities, and risk advisory processes.

Your contributions will directly support client outcomes and strengthen KPMG's delivery of high-quality advisory solutions.

Who We're Looking For:

We're seeking high-potential students who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership potential, and an interest in governance, financial risk, or sustainability.
