About KPMG in Malaysia's Transaction Services Practice

KPMG Malaysia's Transaction Services (TS) practice supports clients throughout the entire deal lifecycle—covering buy-side, sell-side and non-deal value creation initiatives. The practice offers a comprehensive suite of services including financial, tax, commercial and operational due diligence, enabling clients to assess value, identify risks and make informed strategic decisions.

Within TS, the Commercial Due Diligence & Strategy (CDD&S) team specializes in providing commercial insights and growth-focused advisory across key sectors such as Healthcare, Consumer & Retail, Technology, Financial Services, Industrial Markets, Media, Infrastructure, Transportation & Logistics, Agriculture, Real Estate and Energy.

CDD&S supports leading Malaysian and international corporates, sovereign wealth funds, private equity funds and venture capital firms. The team is engaged across pre-deal analysis, post-deal value creation, market entry, feasibility assessments, and organic and inorganic growth strategy, delivering data-driven insights that help clients unlock long-term value.

What Can You Expect

In this role, you will be part of a high-performing advisory team responsible for delivering commercial due diligence, strategic assessments and growth-focused advisory engagements.

Key expectations include:

  • Project Delivery & Insight Generation
  • Lead or support commercial due diligence engagements, including market sizing, competitor benchmarking, customer assessment, regulatory analysis and business plan validation.
  • Conduct targeted primary research via interviews with industry experts, customers, distributors and market participants.
  • Identify key commercial, operational and financial risks and value drivers impacting investment decisions.
  • Support market entry assessments, feasibility studies, synergy evaluations and broader value creation initiatives.
  • Deliver clear, concise and insightful client-ready reports and presentations.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage engagement workstreams, ensuring high-quality output, efficient execution and adherence to timelines.
  • Facilitate communication with senior client stakeholders, target company representatives and cross-functional KPMG teams.
  • Contribute to issue resolution and risk management throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Practice Development & Team Leadership
  • Support business development initiatives including proposal drafting, pitch preparation and thought leadership.
  • Participate in shaping the practice's strategic roadmap, methodology development and knowledge assets.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability-building initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, resourcing and team development activities.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • End-to-End Deal Exposure: Gain comprehensive experience across pre-deal, post-deal and strategic advisory—beyond the traditional scope of commercial due diligence.
  • High-Growth Environment: Contribute to the rapid expansion of the CDD&S practice within KPMG's broader Advisory business.
  • Multi-Sector Expertise: Work across a wide range of industries, building versatile sector knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Regional and Global Collaboration: Access KPMG's international TS and Strategy networks, with opportunities to participate in cross-border engagements.
  • Accelerated Professional Development: Build advanced capabilities in commercial assessment, strategy development, analytics, and executive-level communication.
  • C-Suite Engagement: Present insights and recommendations directly to senior executives, private equity investors and board-level stakeholders.

How Will You Make Your Mark

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping investment decisions and strategic directions for high-profile clients. You will:

  • Provide fact-based commercial insights that influence multimillion-dollar M&A and investment decisions.
  • Lead analyses that guide market entry, business transformation and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Identify synergy opportunities, operational improvements and value creation levers critical to post-deal success.
  • Strengthen client relationships through exceptional delivery and strategic advisory.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the CDD&S practice, helping to define its capabilities and market position.

Your work will directly impact clients investment strategies, business performance and market competitiveness—while shaping the continued growth of the CDD&S team.
