Lead Data Engineer

About The Role

As Chapter Lead, you have the opportunity to build and maintain a team of great software engineers in the Data & Analytics Tribe.

You will be responsible for the staffing of your chapter, act as a coach, building and developing your chapter members, understanding and identifying their development needs as well as organizing the resource allocation of chapter members to squads and orchestrate the performance of the chapter.

As part of the engineering leadership, you will own and drive transversal initiatives to evolve and standardise engineering best practices across the tribe.

In the agile context, you will also participate as hands-on squad member to contribute to the success of a squad as well as to retain and grow your people manager as well as technical expertise.

Responsibilities

As a Lead/Senior Data Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team where you will be working on data flows interacting with various systems using various protocols. As we are building a data management platform as part of Swift's strategy to enable frictionless transaction, you together with a strong team of professionals using up-to-date technologies will be delivering data management features and capabilities managing & delivering data across different business practices internally and externally. You will develop the platform that are based on industries best practices, standards and governance framework that are robust, scalable & performant as well as ensuring high data quality and data integrity.

We are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to be part of a new team working on the Data Management Platform under the Data & Analytic Tribe.

Profiles

• Proven experience & understanding in Data Engineering and Software Development Practices
• Proven Hands-on experience with Apache NiFi, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, Trino, Hadoop and Object Storage technology is a strong advantage
• Solid programming/coding experience in Python, Java Development
• Hands-on experience on Denodo, Cloudera or any Data Management platform is a strong advantage
• Experience with RDBMS or NoSQL: SQL, PL/SQL, GraphDB
• Proven experience with CICD development & deployment tools such as Ansible, Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience with Identity & Access management, Authentication & authorisation
• Understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, VPN, reverse proxies, firewalls
• Experience with scripting language, primarily Unix Shell, Perl
• Having expertise in manual & automation testing
• Practical working experience in an Agile development (scrum) context
• Proven experience as a key technical resource leading the development of solutions
• Demonstrated ability to influence and consult (providing options with pros, cons and risks) around all key technical decisions during project delivery
• Knows or wants to learn how to translate business problems into software & technical requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer centric attitude, ability to deal with cultural diversity
• Proven team player and team builder
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies quickly
• Able to thrive in a fast paced, goals and deadlines driven environment
• Passionate about change & improvement and constant challenge the status quo
• Qualifications
• At least 8+ years experience in Data Engineer Practices/Software development/Consulting
• University bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Team player, willing to work in a multicultural environment
• Able to lead, coach and groom junior team members
