Review and understand all mechanical-related clauses in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract. Monitor the EPCC contractors adherence to these terms and conditions and manage any variation orders or claims related to the mechanical scope.
Review and endorse all mechanical engineering deliverables submitted by the EPC contractor. This includes drawings (single-line diagrams, P&IDs, etc.), specifications, calculations, and technical reports to ensure they comply with the Employers requirements, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and relevant codes.
Ensure that the EPCC contractors mechanical design aligns with the projects overall design basis, safety and performance requirements.
Work with other discipline leads (electrical, instrument & control, civil, etc.) to manage interfaces and ensure the mechanical systems integrate seamlessly with the rest of the plant.
Oversee all on-site mechanical construction activities, including the erection of major equipment (turbine, boiler), piping, environmental control systems, and other balance of plant (BOP) equipment.
Monitor the EPCC contractors procurement process for all mechanical equipment and materials. Witness and endorse FATs for critical mechanical equipment to verify their functionality and compliance before shipment.
Track the projects mechanical schedule, identifying potential delays and bottlenecks, and work with the PMC to implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
Coordinate and participate in the development and review of pre-commissioning, commissioning procedures and commissioning schedule. Witness and approve critical tests to ensure all mechanical systems are functioning correctly.
Review EPCC Contractors progress report. Provide regular, detailed reports to the Project Director/Employer on the status of the mechanical works, including progress, budget, quality, and any critical issues.
Maintain effective communication channels with all parties, including the Employers management, the PMC team, the Owners Engineer, and the EPCC contractor, to ensure alignment on project goals and efficient problem-solving.
