Lead Instructional Designer (Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

Overview

We are seeking a Lead Instructional Designer to drive the strategy, design, and development of high-impact, adult-learning-based product enablement and sales effectiveness training. This role will primarily lead the creation of interactive e-learning and some occasional classroom-style (ILT) experiences that support sales and customer-facing teams in a SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of engaging e-learning courses using Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Apply adult learning (andragogy) principles to create effective learning experiences
  • Design and develop learning guides, workshop materials, and learning aids as necessary
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to transform raw content into compelling, memorable, and impactful courseware
  • Drive end-to-end instructional design processes using ADDIE or SAM methodologies
  • Mentor junior designers and developers
  • Ensure consistency in Esker visual design, branding, and learning standards
  • Support certification programs and assessment for customer-facing roles
  • Continuously evaluate and improve training effectiveness

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • 5–8 years of instructional design experience
  • Expert-level proficiency with Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Strong background in adult learning theory (andragogy)
  • Experience designing interactive, high-impact e-learning
  • Strong understanding of SCORM, x-API/Tin Can, and related learning technologies for interoperability
  • Strong visual/illustrative design skills
  • Strong video editing, voice over, and language translation experience AI and tools
  • Experience working in agile environments (ADDIE, SAM)
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and SMEs
  • Experience in SaaS and GTM processes

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading or mentoring teams
  • Background in sales enablement or customer training
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and analytics
  • Experience with multimedia production

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Mandarin, Cantonese, or French is a plus.
