Job Description

Position: Lead Project Engineer

Location: Selangor, Malaysia

Role Overview:

  • The Engineering Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the Malaysia-based Engineering team, primarily composed of Application Design Engineers. This team handles the design and technical documentation of Semiconductor / Electronic Industry throughout the project lifecycle—from the handover by Sales to final delivery.
  • In this role, you will lead, support, and develop the team to meet customer expectations regarding quality, cost, timely delivery, and satisfaction. You will also play a key role in improving departmental processes, especially those aligned with the requirements of the Oil & Gas (O&G) sector.
  • As a member of the Engineering Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Head of Engineering on strategic initiatives and internal projects, while also participating in SIM and cross-departmental coordination meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management & Leadership
  • Plan, assign, and manage team workloads and project deliverables
  • Support team members in their career development through coaching, performance feedback, and goal-setting
  • Provide technical mentorship, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement
  • Identify training needs and facilitate internal or external training sessions
  • Manage team budget and resource allocation
  • Lead recruitment efforts in collaboration with HR and the Head of Engineering
  • Operational & Process Excellence
  • Ensure adherence to customer and market-specific engineering standards
  • Coordinate with Project Management and Scheduling teams to align engineering deliverables with project timelines
  • Contribute to the improvement of engineering tools, processes, and procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven project management experience
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Cross-cultural awareness and experience working in global teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with EPLAN and SAP
  • Experience in handling international projects
