Job Title: Lead/Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centre / Mission Critical).
Job Location: Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Our client is a international engineering consultancy delivering specialist structural, infrastructural, and MEP services for high-value building projects across word.
Role Purpose
The Lead/Senior Mechanical Engineer acts as the primary technical authority for mechanical engineering design scopes across major projects. You will lead end-to-end mechanical design deliverables from concept and detailed design through tender documentation, providing technical governance, managing interfaces, and offering design support during commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Authority: Own the overall mechanical design scope (HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, pumping, and piping), acting as the lead approval point for engineering calculations, equipment selections, and technical submissions.
- Team Leadership: Direct, allocate, and mentor Mechanical Design Engineers, draughtsmen, and BIM resources to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables.
- Interface Management: Lead multidisciplinary coordination across Electrical, Civil/Structural, Architectural, Fire Protection, and Plumbing disciplines.
- BIM & Constructability: Oversee BIM/Navisworks model reviews, clash resolution, constructability assessments, and value engineering.
- Site & Commissioning Direction: Provide technical oversight to site teams during procurement, evaluate major mechanical plant packages, and define testing and commissioning intent.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 10–15 years in mechanical design, primarily within a consultancy environment.
- Sector Focus: Strong background in complex HVAC, ventilation, and chilled water design. Data Centre, Mission Critical (Hospitals, Semi-Con) project experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Standards: Solid working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN, and local Malaysian regulatory codes.
- Software Familiarity: Proficiency with engineering calculations; working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks tools.
