Role Description The Legal Associate will work on-site at the firm's office in Ipoh in a full-time capacity. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and assisting in case preparation across areas such as conveyancing, corporate work, litigation, and family and probate matters. The role involves attending client meetings, taking instructions, preparing opinions, and communicating case updates to clients and senior lawyers. The Legal Associate will support court appearances, manage deadlines, and coordinate with relevant external parties, such as opposing counsel and government agencies, to ensure matters progress efficiently. The role also includes maintaining accurate files, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and contributing to the firm's overall service quality.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law and familiarity with key practice areas relevant to conveyancing, corporate work, and litigation.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting contracts, pleadings, affidavits, and other legal instruments.
  • Well-developed Analytical Skills to interpret statutes, case law, and complex fact patterns, and to formulate sound legal strategies.
  • Effective Communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, courts, and external stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and manage Legal Issues across multiple practice areas while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice (or eligibility for admission) is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple files and deadlines.
  • High ethical standards, professional integrity, and commitment to client service and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and standard office software; prior law firm experience is an advantage.
