About This Role

As a Legal Counsel in Legal department, you will be providing legal support to the organization across the APAC region by advising on a broad range of legal matters, supporting business operations, and assisting in managing legal risks in a practical and commercially focused manner.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational matters, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on contracts, correspondence, and other legal documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical, risk-based, and commercially focused advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support business operations, strategic initiatives, and organizational objectives while managing legal and regulatory risks.
  • Support dispute resolution and litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel, managing claims, and assisting with case strategy and administration.
  • Assist with regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters, including the preparation, review, and submission of documentation required by regulators and government authorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve legal templates, policies, and processes to promote efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems for legal documents and support general legal administration.
  • Perform such other legal and compliance duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent qualification. Admission to the Bar or eligibility to practise law in a relevant jurisdiction is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years in private practice at a reputable law firm is preferred.
  • Experience advising on regulatory and compliance matters. Exposure to financial services, payments, remittance, fintech, or regulated industries, including dealings with regulators such as BNM, MAS, BSP, FSA, or similar authorities, is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing disputes, litigation, investigations, and external legal counsel.
  • Proven ability to draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of corporate and commercial agreements.
  • Experience advising on employment, workplace, and Human Resources-related legal matters.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused, and risk-based legal advice.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail, professionalism, and a structured, fact-based approach to legal analysis and risk assessment.
