We are looking for a Legal Counsel to manage the company's regional and cross-border legal matters, provide strategic legal advice, and ensure compliance with international and Malaysian laws. The role includes contract review, risk assessment, dispute management, and support for overseas projects and business negotiations. Proficiency in English and Chinese, strong commercial judgment, and cross-cultural communication skills are essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish and enhance the company's legal management framework within the region, including compliance processes and risk control mechanisms.
- Handle the company's cross-border legal matters, including but not limited to international trade, cross-border investment, overseas business compliance, contract review, and legal advisory support.
- Participate in overseas projects and cross-border business negotiations by providing legal advice, risk assessment, and preventive solutions.
- Assist in managing and monitoring cross-border litigation and arbitration cases, liaising with external legal counsel and tracking case progress.
- Monitor developments in international and Malaysian laws and regulations, and provide timely legal analysis and strategic recommendations to management.
- Provide daily legal advisory and compliance support to internal business departments on international matters.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent qualification. Admission to the Malaysian Bar (CLP) or other recognized international legal qualification will be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience, with exposure to international trade, cross-border investment, international arbitration, or cross-border compliance matters. Experience in a Chinese-invested enterprise or multinational corporation is preferred.
- Excellent proficiency in both English and Chinese (spoken and written), with the ability to independently draft legal documents, review contracts, and conduct business negotiations in English.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, sound risk awareness, and solid commercial legal judgment, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with Malaysian company law, contract law, and cross-border commercial practices will be an added advantage.
