ROLE OVERVIEW
- Create, review, analyze, modify if necessary, and negotiate the contractual documents to achieve acceptable risk levels to the organization.
- Assisting in providing the Company with legal services, including but not limited to the provision of legal advice and drafting of legal documentation/agreements as and when required.
- Analyze the customers and suppliers terms and conditions and suggest innovative ways to deal with contract requirements and ensure the rights, obligations, and risk exposures to the organization are clearly identified and mitigated.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal & Contract Management
- Draft, review, analyze, modify if necessary, and negotiate contractual documents to achieve acceptable risk levels for the organization.
- Review and negotiate claims, settlement agreements, amendments to existing agreements, and other contractual terms with business partners.
- Draft and vet legal and corporate documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Engage and coordinate with external legal counsel on all legal matters concerning the organization.
- Assist in representing the Company in legal matters, including monitoring external lawyers and handling legal negotiations with external parties.
- Conduct research on legal and regulatory issues and keep updated on developments affecting the organization.
- Support the Legal Manager in all legal-related matters.
Administrative Support
- Provide general legal and administrative assistance to the superior.
- Prepare documentation for signing and coordinate signatures.
- Maintain meeting calendars, arrange meetings, and ensure proper filing and documentation.
- Handle communications, including calls to relevant parties.
Trademark & Intellectual Property Support
- Support the trademark process by preparing documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct pre-filing search analysis and advise on registrability of trademarks.
- Monitor and update the status of applications, liaising with the Malaysia Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO).
Other Duties
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent.
- Admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum 23 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks and working effectively across departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
