JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

. Branch implementation and expansion: act as a single legal contact for branch implementation work post 1 Nov 26 GBSB go-live and as GBSB expands into Primary Dealer activities for SG government bonds and PWM deposit-taking, to ensure continuity in legal coverage.

. Advisory and Day-to-day coverage: advise on SG regulatory requirements and rule interpretation relating to GBSB obligations and controls, working closely with GBM & PWM product legal for their activities in GBSB, and GSBE Legal in Frankfurt and Bank Legal in NY where relevant.

. GBSB governance support: provide ongoing Legal support for GBSB governance e.g. legal and regulatory updates to the GBSB Branch Manager through the Branch Management Forum.

. Regulatory developments: monitor and advise on Singapore legal and regulatory developments affecting GBSB.

. Legal agreement templates maintenance: maintain and update GBSB legal agreement templates as activities and operating arrangements evolve, currently including MAS account terms documentation, GSBE/GBSB outsourcing side letter and vendor contract addenda.

. Corporate Treasury matters: provide legal support for GBSB funding and liquidity matters, including intercompany lending and related banking and regulatory considerations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

. Qualified lawyer with minimum 6 years PQE.

. Relevant post-qualification experience either with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.

. Ability to demonstrate a strong grounding in SG banking law and regulation, financial services regulation, and the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to licensed bank branch entity, including governance and banking activities.

. Working knowledge of fixed income or equities products.

. Mandarin language skills preferred to support legal advisory work, review and negotiation of legal documentation, and engagement with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders across Greater China. The role may involve analysing regulatory materials, contractual documentation, and business communications in Chinese, as well as coordinating with internal and external stakeholders where Mandarin is the primary working language.
