Legal Manager

Overview

Our client is a well-established investment bank based in Malaysia, part of a prominent financial services group with a strong regional presence. They provide comprehensive capital markets, investment banking, stockbroking, and financial advisory solutions to a diverse range of institutional, corporate, and high-net-worth clients across Asia.

Role Description

• Independently provide legal support to various divisions, including middle office and back office units of our client's investment banking and asset management operations.
• Advise senior management and stakeholders on legal risks and issues.
• Ensure smooth operation of the investment banking and asset management business by supporting services and reviewing, vetting, or drafting documents to mitigate legal risks and maintain industry standards.
• Manage disputes and litigation matters.
• Recommend improvements to work procedures and documentation to strengthen legal risk management.
• Deliver training on legal risk areas and regulatory updates, including preparing materials and implementing training programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably including at least 3 years at a top-tier legal firm, specializing in corporate commercial law, banking law, or capital markets.
• Strong knowledge of investment banking and company law, litigation, and employment law.
• Experience and knowledge of laws and regulations from the securities commission, stock exchange, and central bank required.
• Relevant legal certifications or equivalents are advantageous.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
