Discovering the role

This attorney will work closely with other members of the legal team and broader company on developing Convergint's security integrator business and reporting to the APAC In House Counsel.

Main Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, redline and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and contracts, including but not limited to master service agreements, customer agreements, vendor agreements, non-disclosure, consulting, and other agreements routinely related to construction, installation and service of security systems, innovative technology, data privacy, and software-as-a-service.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice regarding offerings, initiatives, and strategy, including counseling and collaborating on regulatory, privacy, security, emerging technology, intellectual property, and other issues.
  • Contributing to the development of business processes and policies to mitigate risk, reduce inefficiencies, and achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to work agreements originating from anywhere globally.
  • Learn and understand the security integration business sufficiently to educate and advise the business with respect to legal and risk management issues relating to the offerings.
  • Develop clear communications, guidance, templates, and training for the business.
  • Identifying key compliance risks and issues in business, operations, employment, etc.
  • Manage the local secretaries and legal resources; to coordinate any legal or compliance issues raised in APAC regions.
  • Support HR Department on labor or employment legal issues.
  • Work closely with the Finance Team for any new business entity set up in APAC region by providing the necessary legal support.
  • Manage APAC local insurance brokers and work closely with US resources to ensure APAC business in compliance with the local social insurance system and satisfying the client's request on insurance requirements in any involved projects.
  • Provide legal advice to ensure APAC business in compliance with the local laws, regulations, and internal policies, training especially for anti-corruption & bribery, and the code of conduct.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial contract drafting and negotiating experience gained in a law firm and/or in-house environment. Prior in-house (corporate) experience is preferred over law firm experience.
  • Commitment to a creative, inclusive, and diverse workplace, and ability to contribute to a sense of belonging in a multinational organization.
  • Exemplary contract drafting skills, ability to think outside of templates and resolve issues with creativity and precision.
  • Business partner mindset, the desire to collaborate with our teams to innovate and drive business forward, while protecting the organization.
  • Comfortable with researching and analyzing international and local contract laws, as well as related administrative processes.
  • Proven ability to spot issues, work creatively, and use independent judgment to solve problems.
  • Thrives in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment by showing high adaptability.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting.
  • Prior work with a security or technology company with substantive experience drafting and negotiating contracts preferred.
  • Most clients are based in APAC with some clients based globally, so an ability to accommodate customary work hours in other countries.
  • Knowledge of Asia Pacific and other regions legal systems would be very beneficial.
