We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Senior Client Relationship to source, structure, and acquire larger SME loan opportunities. The ideal candidate will have strong origination skills, a solid understanding of SME financing needs, and the ability to perform thorough initial credit assessments, including preparation of high-quality credit papers for internal approval.
Job Responsibilities:
Business Development & Origination
- Source, identify, and acquire new SME clients with a focus on larger loan exposures (e.g., RM5 million and above).
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through active networking, referrals, and market intelligence.
- Proactively develop financing solutions tailored to SME clients business needs, covering working capital, trade financing, term loans, and contract financing.
Credit & Risk Assessment
- Conduct initial credit assessment of prospective SME borrowers, including analysis of financial statements, cash flows, industry trends, and repayment capacity.
- Evaluate collateral adequacy and assess risk mitigants in line with bank's credit policies.
- Prepare comprehensive credit proposals/credit papers that articulate client background, financial analysis, risk factors, and recommended structure.
- Liaise with internal credit/risk teams to ensure timely and efficient approval processes.
Deal Structuring & Execution
- Structure financing solutions that balance client requirements with the bank's risk appetite.
- Negotiate key terms of financing (tenure, pricing, collateral) within approved parameters.
- Manage the end-to-end deal process from origination to disbursement.
Portfolio & Relationship Management
- Monitor ongoing performance of assigned portfolio, including repayment conduct, covenant compliance, and early warning signals.
- Act as the primary relationship manager for clients, providing continuous advisory support.
- Ensure adherence to compliance, regulatory, and internal governance standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline;
- Minimum 58 years of SME lending or corporate banking experience, with a proven track record in sourcing and closing larger SME loans.
- Strong credit skills: ability to interpret financial statements, assess cash flows, evaluate collateral, and write well-structured credit papers.
- In-depth knowledge of SME financing products, including term loans, revolving credit, trade finance, and contract/project financing.
- Strong client acquisition and relationship management skills with an established SME network.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Highly self-motivated with strong business acumen and results orientation.
