Linux Engineer

Job Description:

Provide capabilities for Windows & Linux servers running SAP workloads on various server hardware platform on either on-prem or cloud. Proactively maintain Windows/Linux infrastructure technology to maintain uptime service

Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs

Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments

Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions

Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning

Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers hardware

Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks

Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment

Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes

Collaborates with architects to identify and advocate for prioritizing enabler work

Cross-functional (T-shaped) skill set

Able to work in ambiguity and iterate to a solution can solve business problems without explicit direction

Experience in managing SAP application server workloads would be a great advantage

Basic Function of Work Group:

Windows 2016/2019/2022 Server Operating Systems, VMWare

RHEL 8/9/10, AWS Cloud

Computing Environment:

Provide new capabilities for windows & Linux servers running SAP workloads on various server hardware platform on either on-prem or cloud

Primary skill set : (Must have at least one)

Knowledge of cloud provisioning, support, consultation and engineering (AWS/Azure)

Knowledge of Linux OS (preferably Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8)

Knowledge of virtualization/hosting platform of Linux compute workload (VMware, etc)

Secondary skill sets : (Must have at least one )

Proficient knowledge of automation or CI/CD tools such as Github Action, Puppet, Ansible.

Proficient knowledge of scripting languages as PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Bash etc.

Basic knowledge about key system software (e.g. pacemaker, subscription-manager, sssd, sudo etc)

Basic network switching and routing knowledge (Juniper, etc)

Basic LUN storage provisioning, cleanup, troubleshooting knowledge (Symmetrix, Netapp)

Soft skill sets :

Proficiency in spoken/written English

Strong interpersonal and team player abilities

Strong analytical/problem solving skills
