Job Description
M&A Senior Analyst / Associate – Financial Institutions (Insurance & Reinsurance)
About the Role
Huntington Advisory is looking for an M&A Senior Analyst or Associate to join our Singapore team. The level will depend on the candidate's experience. You will play a central role in originating and executing M&A, capital raising, and strategic value creation mandates across the financial services sector, with a particular focus on insurance and reinsurance.
You will work directly alongside senior advisers on complex, often cross-border transactions and take part in the full deal lifecycle, from idea generation and strategic research through execution, due diligence, and closing. Our mandates span Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Europe. The role therefore suits someone who enjoys being close to clients and counterparties and is comfortable working wherever the transaction requires.
You will join a lean, high-performance team, so you will get early responsibility and meaningful exposure to senior client dialogue. Over time, you will be expected to manage workstreams independently and contribute directly to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with senior advisers to originate, structure, and execute M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions within the financial services sector.
- Engage directly with clients, counterparties, and their advisers: attend management meetings, support negotiations, and represent the firm professionally throughout the transaction process.
- Conduct industry, market, and competitor research to support origination and identify acquisition, partnership, or strategic opportunities.
- Develop thematic insights and materials for initial client discussions and idea generation.
- Prepare high-quality marketing and execution materials, including pitch books, teasers, company profiles, and information memoranda.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and perform valuation analyses using DCF, trading comparables, and precedent transactions.
- Support due diligence by reviewing financial statements, operational data, and legal documentation, and summarise key findings and risks.
- Analyse regulatory, tax, and jurisdictional considerations relevant to transaction structuring.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external advisers (legal, accounting, and regulatory specialists), and counterparties to drive execution.
- Manage multiple workstreams at once while maintaining strong attention to detail and execution discipline.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier institution.
- 1–4 years of experience in M&A advisory, corporate finance, or strategy consulting. We will consider candidates at Senior Analyst or Associate level depending on experience.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and accounting fundamentals, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret complex information, extract key insights, and evaluate their strategic and commercial implications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and presence to engage with senior client stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel across Asia and Europe as required by projects
- High integrity, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a small team while managing multiple priorities independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the financial institutions group (FIG) sector, particularly insurance and reinsurance.
- Understanding of key business models, value drivers, and regulatory considerations within the sector.
- Exposure to cross-border transactions or complex advisory mandates.
- Additional language skills relevant to Asian markets (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese, Bahasa).
