The M&E BIM Manager/engineer will be responsible for leading, managing, and implementing BIM strategies specifically for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems across our projects. This role requires a strong technical engineering background combined with extensive experience in M&E coordination and BIM implementation within a construction environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless integration, coordination, and optimization of M&E works through advanced BIM practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) focusing on M&E scopes.
- Lead the M&E BIM coordination process, managing clash detection and resolution meetings with design consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Manage the development, review, and maintenance of accurate M&E BIM models throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with project standards, specifications, and Level of Development (LOD) requirements.
- Utilize BIM tools for advanced M&E system analysis, simulation, and visualization to support engineering, planning, and construction activities.
- Collaborate closely with the project management, planning, and site execution teams to integrate M&E BIM data with project schedules (4D) and cost control (5D) where applicable.
- Oversee the production of M&E BIM deliverables, including coordinated shop drawings, fabrication models, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to project teams and subcontractors on M&E BIM software, workflows, and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend new BIM technologies, tools, and processes to enhance M&E coordination and project efficiency.
- Ensure quality control and assurance for all M&E BIM models and associated data.
- Report on M&E BIM implementation progress, challenges, and key metrics to project leadership.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the construction industry, specifically focused on the coordination, engineering, and planning of complex M&E systems.
- Proven track record of successfully managing M&E BIM processes on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong technical and engineering foundation with in-depth knowledge of M&E systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Sanitary, Electrical, Fire Protection, ELV).
- Expert proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and familiarity with BIM collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360/ACC).
- Demonstrated experience in leading M&E clash detection and resolution processes.
- Excellent understanding of BIM standards, protocols, and best practices (e.g., ISO 19650 is a plus).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working directly for a major General Contractor.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent is an advantage.
- Experience with advanced BIM applications for design, engineering, project management, costing and scheduling
