Overview
The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for governing the Bank's regulatory exposure and data integrity as the central second-line-of-defense. Operating within Group Operations, this Manager proactively executes robust control measures, including advanced customer reviews and strategic data quality programs, to rigorously mitigate financial crime risk. The role is pivotal in providing advanced governance and meticulous upkeep of all customer profiles across the branch network.
This position reports directly to the Head of AML Analyst.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Functional (job responsibilities)
Lead the systematic execution of ongoing customer profile reviews and ensure the mandatory, timely updates of critical information necessary for accurate Customer Risk Rating (CRR) assessments and recalibrations.
Function as the designated second-level checker and final approver for all maintenance activities on new and existing customer profiles, enforcing the Bank's superior data quality standards.
Spearhead and manage comprehensive data hygiene, normalization, and remediation activities across the entire customer database to proactively eliminate inconsistencies.
Act as the primary AML liaison with branch staff and diverse internal departments, driving compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements related to data governance.
Own the timely preparation and completion of high-quality Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) documentation for all identified High-Risk Customers (HRC).
Ensure the prompt and evidence-based internal escalation and submission of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) to Group Compliance when required by policy or regulation.
Maintain a precise, auditable register of all reported incidents, alerts, and investigations pertaining to AML/CTF, ensuring compliance records are robust.
Contribute specialized subject matter expertise to strategic project assignments, particularly focusing on the successful implementation of new AML systems, regulatory mandates, and process optimization initiatives.
Jobholder Requirements
Malaysian citizen.
Education/Qualification
Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative or relevant field such as Finance, Accountancy, Banking, Actuarial Science, or equivalent.
Experience/Requirements
A minimum of 4 - 6 years of demonstrated experience within a Financial Institution, with a proven track record in AML/CTF operations and compliance.
Possessing knowledge of consumer banking products and the governing regulations that shape the business is a significant advantage.
Exhibit a strong blend of business acumen and exceptional analytical skills, with the proven ability to be self-sufficient and deliver high-quality results under minimum supervision.
Demonstrated strength in people, team leadership, and cross-functional stakeholder management to successfully drive compliance objectives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory concepts clearly to diverse organizational levels.
Willingness to work in Damansara City, Kuala Lumpur.
