About the Role

The Manager – Business Development (CDMO) will be responsible for expanding the company's contract manufacturing business by securing strategic partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies, including innovators and generic pharmaceutical companies.

The incumbent will focus on generating new business opportunities for the company's USFDA-approved pharmaceutical and oncology manufacturing facilities for small molecule products, oral solid dosage (OSD) forms. The role will leverage available manufacturing capacity to establish long-term contract manufacturing partnerships with high-quality global clients.

Working closely with internal technical, regulatory, and commercial teams, the individual will drive the end-to-end business development process from lead generation through proposal development, commercial negotiations, and execution of CDMO/CMO agreements, positioning the company as a reliable manufacturing partner for global pharmaceutical companies.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Deal Origination

  • Identify, develop, and secure contract manufacturing (CDMO/CMO) opportunities with global pharmaceutical companies, including innovator and generic companies.
  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline of new business opportunities to support capacity utilization and revenue growth.
  • Promote the company's USFDA-approved manufacturing capabilities for small molecule products, including oral solid dosage forms and oral liquids, to potential partners.
  • Lead commercial engagements including confidentiality agreements, development of business proposals, pricing discussions, and negotiation of contract manufacturing agreements.
  • Convert qualified opportunities into long-term manufacturing contracts and strategic partnerships.

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with innovator and global generic pharmaceutical companies involved in outsourcing manufacturing.
  • Act as a key point of contact for prospective clients during the business development and negotiation process.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, partnering events, and business development forums to generate new leads and partnerships.
  • Develop relationships with decision-makers responsible for outsourcing manufacturing and supply chain partnerships.

Opportunity Evaluation & Execution

  • Work with cross-functional teams to assess technical feasibility, regulatory considerations, and commercial viability of potential CMO projects.
  • Coordinate with Technical Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance to prepare competitive proposals and commercial offers.
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive business proposals, technical proposals, and commercial terms for potential clients.
  • Support negotiation and execution of contract manufacturing agreements, supply agreements, and related commercial contracts.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor global CDMO market trends, outsourcing strategies of pharmaceutical companies, and competitive landscape.
  • Identify opportunities in innovator outsourcing, complex generics, lifecycle management products, and specialty oral dosage products.
  • Provide insights to senior management regarding potential strategic partnerships and new business opportunities.

Reporting & Governance

  • Maintain accurate tracking of business development pipeline, proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on pipeline development, deal status, and revenue opportunities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline. MBA or equivalent business qualification is preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience in pharmaceutical business development, CDMO/CMO sales, or strategic partnerships.
  • Proven track record of securing contract manufacturing business from innovator and/or generic pharmaceutical companies.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing of small molecule products, particularly oral solid dosage forms and oral liquids.
  • Experience working with or promoting USFDA/EU approved manufacturing facilities is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing business proposals, commercial offers, and negotiating contract manufacturing agreements.
  • Strong familiarity with CMO/CDMO contractual structures, including supply agreements, pricing models, and long-term manufacturing arrangements.
  • Strong business development, negotiation, and deal-closing capabilities.
  • Ability to develop structured business proposals and commercially competitive offers.
  • Good understanding of contract manufacturing agreements and legal/commercial terms in CMO engagements.
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders within global pharmaceutical companies.
